Protect your city from evil

Scarlet Fate or “Scarlet Fate - Knights of Fantasy 2” is a free role-playing video game wherein you can enjoy a vibrant fantasy world and quick no-hassle gameplay. Developed by Game Hollywood, this 2D casual idle game is the free-to-play sequel to Knights of Fantasy

Not to be confused with the Shall We Date?: Scarlet Fate games, Scarlet Fate is an action RPG that offers a gacha system and almost all actions automated so there's no need to worry about building your team. However, this is also what makes it eventually boring to most.

Recruit friends in your quest

In Scarlet Fate, you play as the Commander of the Knights in the city of Flora. You can’t choose your character or gender, as you get the Commander as a deployable character unit on his own—and he happens to have a preset backstory and relationships with other characters. The story’s start is pretty straightforward as you’ll mostly do tasks to help the city thrive and protect it from evildoers.

However, this isn’t really easy to follow or even remotely interesting due to its gameplay. Sadly, nearly everything is automated and fast-paced since it’s an idle game. Your team will independently complete battles to passively accumulate EXP and rewards for you. Leveling up various aspects—such as units, gear, skills, and whatnot—also offers a skip button of sorts so you don’t have to think too hard on managing them.

It doesn’t help that there are so many features unlocked at the start. You’ll mostly end up constantly clicking on the Main Quest button and an icon with a red exclamation point to progress and accept rewards, as there’s no real tutorial involved. Additionally, the game plays on your web browser for PC but you can’t resize this and it always stays in mobile resolution, like in emulators.

The fighting never stops

All in all, Scarlet Fate is an RPG idle game that’s easy to get into, but don’t expect to become heavily invested in its story and gameplay mechanics. Due to the nature of the game, everything is fast-paced and hardly requires much of your focus. The main drawback here is how you can’t adjust the screen’s size—even though it plays perfectly on your browser.

PROS

  • Anime art style and gacha system
  • Automated battles and EXP farming
  • Can skip manual leveling
  • Various gameplay elements and modes

CONS

  • It’s always in a mobile device resolution and size
